professional biography
Originally from Cote d’Ivoire and Paris France, an immigrant son of California, Brice Ciabatti has maintained a strong connection to his French African roots. Through-out his career in the Arts, he has cultivated a strong inquisition for exploration and experimentation. Hailing from a vibrant creative background, Brice Ciabatti seamlessly merged artistry, design, and innovation from the outset. Accepted into the esteemed UCSB College of Creative Design during high school, Brice's artistic journey gained swift recognition with the Best High School Artist award from the Ridley Tree Foundation in 1998 and an honorable mention at the Huntington Beach Art Show in 1999 for "Stairway to Heaven."
In 2003, Brice embarked on a monumental endeavor, crafting a striking 3D mural for an office building lobby from old circuit boards and drywall slabs, showcasing his ingenuity. Pursuing higher education in environmental design at California State Polytechnic University, Brice graduated with honors in 2010, earning an Honor award from the American Society of Landscape Architects. His senior thesis innovatively addressed environmental challenges by upcycling abandoned materials into fashion items.
Beyond academia, Brice's creativity flourishes. A dedicated participant in the Global Inktober daily sketch challenge for five years, he continually pushes his creative boundaries. Brice also engages in the "Game of Shrooms," a worldwide mushroom art scavenger hunt, fostering innovation and ingenuity.
Brice's ambition extends to projects like the "Compendium of Collective Nouns" series, which explores San Diego's historic neighborhoods through street signs, captivating audiences with his unique perspective. His artistic prowess transcends mediums, evident in his commissioned Rothko reproductions.
Furthermore, Brice excels as a graphic designer, crafting bespoke logos and brand identities. As he navigates the art and design landscape, his passion for creation remains unwavering, inspiring others to embrace their own artistic journeys.
